Much grief awaits us, friends.
From this day on
We’ll be testing our courage
Like those men who stretch a wire
Between two skyscrapers,
And set out to walk on it,
Bringing along an open umbrella
Which the wind may take away
When they are just halfway,
And then go and amuse itself
Bouncing it off walls on the way down,
We are likely to forget the fellow
Waving his arms up there
Like a scarecrow in a dust storm.
